I totally disagree with the view that reading newspapers or watching news on the Internet, mobile phones and TV is a waste of time.

        人类社会进入信息时代以来，信息技术的飞速发展使得信息传播的手段和速度发生了爆发式的变化。人们除了通过传统的报纸、广播获得新闻以外，还可以通过互联网、手机和电视获得新闻。而且新的信息技术还催生了自媒体的发展，这既增加了新闻传播的途径，也极大地增加了新闻的数量，使新闻的信息量更加丰富和更加全面。人们可以方便快速准确全面地获得来自世界各地的新闻。由于信息量的扩展，人们虽然在获得新闻方面可能花费了更多的时间，但是也极大地开阔了人们的眼界，了解了世界上更多的事情，极大地丰富了人们的精神生活。另外人们也能从获得新闻的过程中得到很多启发，学习很多东西，增长知识，丰富人生。

       基于这种认识，我认为阅读报纸、听广播，通过互联网、手机或电视看新闻并不是浪费时间，而是在不断地学习、充实和提高自己，扩充和丰富自己的生活世界和精神世界。

Globalization also has some disadvantages. I think globalization has its pros and cons, but overall the pros outweigh the cons. Therefore, we should speed up the process of globalization and gradually solve the shortcomings of globalization as we move forward.

    全球化也存在一些缺点。全球化会冲击和弱化区域性的文化，对文化的多样性造成不利影响。全球化可能对社会、经济、文化、科技和教育落后，市场竞争力很弱的国家和地区的发展不利。

    我认为，全球化有利有弊，但总体上是利大于弊。因此， 我们应该加快推进全球化的进程，在前进的过程中逐步解决全球化的弊端。

现代通讯技术的发展使得人们相互之间的联系变得非常容易。但是我并不认为这种发展一定是利大于弊。

现代通讯技术的发展，确实使人与人之间的联系变得非常方便。这有利于加强相互之间的沟通和交流，提高社会生产和生活的整体效率。 此外，现代通讯技术的迅速发展，促进人类社会进入了信息化和智能化，改变了人们的思想观念、生活方式和行为模式。这些改变变化使是现代社会生活丰富多彩，幸福感大幅度增强。这是现代通讯技术对我们有利的方面。

但是，任何科学技术都是具有两面性的，即它对我们的生活既有有利的方面，也有不利的方面。现代通讯技术在给于我们极大方便的同时，也会给我们个人的生活产生不利的影响。比如雇主可以随时，甚至在节假日联系自己的员工，这样就会占用员工的业余时间，干扰员工的私人生活，侵犯员工休息的权利。

因此，我并不认为技术的发展，就一定是利大于弊的，而是既有利也有不利，甚至有可能弊大于利。比如原子能技术如果用于发电是有利的。但是如果把它用于核战争，人类将会毁灭，这样就只有害没有利。重要的是我们在加快技术发展的同时，我们一定要制定相关的法律和制度，来保障技术发展和应用对我们有利的方面，限制技术发展对我们不利的方面。防止少数人滥用现代技术，给我们的社会和生活带来负面作用。

Prevent a few people from abusing modern technology and bringing negative effects to our society and life.

我相信世界上所有的父母都想给自己的孩子提供最好的机会，期望他们都有一个美好的未来。但是如何才能够给孩子最好的机会，使他们有更美好的未来，确实是一个有不同看法的问题。有些人认为学校应该教孩子们多种技能对他们的未来更有利。有些人却认为学校应该教孩子们多方面的知识对他们的未来更有利。我认为他们的看法都有一定的合理性。但是他们的看法是不全面的。

如果孩子们在学校只学习专业技能，不学习多方面的知识，就会限制了他们的眼界，也会扼杀了他们的想象力和个人天赋。他们的知识面就非常狭窄。他们对世界知道的就很少。他们今后就只能成为某一个行业的技术工人。他们不能成为科学家、文学家、艺术家、思想家、哲学家和社会管理者。这样更不利于他们未来的发展。

如果孩子们在学校只学习多方面的知识，不学习专业技能，孩子们就会什么都懂，但是什么都不会做。这些孩子知识面广，但是动手能力很差，不能解决工作和生活中的实际问题。这对孩子未来的发展也是很不利的。

But how to give children the best chance to have a better future is a matter of opinion. Some people think that schools should teach children a variety of skills which are more beneficial to their future. Some people think that schools should teach children a wide range of knowledge which is more beneficial to their future. I think both of them have some validity. But their view is incomplete.

If children only learn professional skills in school, not to learn a wide range of knowledge, it will limit their vision, will also kill their imagination想像力 and personal gifts. Their knowledge is very narrow. They know very little about the world. They can only become skilled workers in one industry. They cannot become scientists, writers, artists, thinkers, philosophers and social administrators. This is not conducive to their future development.

If children only learn a wide range of knowledge in school, do not learn professional skills, children will know everything, but nothing to do. These children have a wide range of knowledge, but poor hands-on ability, can not solve practical problems in work and life. This is also very detrimental to the future development of children.

I think that in order to create the best opportunities for children, so that they have a better future, people’s two opinions should be combined. Schools should teach children not only a wide range of knowledge, but also some professional skills. But the child’s education should be phased and hierarchical. We should not combine basic education with professional education at the primary  and secondary levels. In primary and secondary school children should be taught a variety of natural and social basic knowledge, cultivate children’s interests and discover their talents. At the university level, professional knowledge and skills education and practical ability education should be mainly carried out. It enables them to receive comprehensive knowledge and professional skills education in stages,  and also allows them to choose their future development direction according to their own interests and talents. This is best for their future development.

   Today, mankind has made great progress and achievements in modern science and technology. It makes our live more convenient, comfortable and beautiful and our work relaxed and efficient. However any science and technology is a double – edged sword with both advantages and disadvantages. For example, automation technology and intelligent robot technology can help humans to do a lot of work, but will cause the deterioration of human physical strength and intelligence. Nuclear power generation technology can provide mankind with a huge amount of energy, but it is difficult to deal with nuclear waste, which will pollute the environment. Nuclear weapons also makes the earth and mankind face a  serious crisis of devastating nuclear war. Modern biotechnology can reveal the secrets of life and prevent various diseases, but the abuse of biotechnology may also pose new threats to human beings, such as biological weapons, genetically modified food, artificial bioethics crisis and high-risk microbes infectious diseases and so on. Modern chemical polymer synthesis technology has provided mankind with many new materials with wide applications, but the waste materials which are difficult to decompose also pose a serious threat to the natural environment and human health.  Remote sensing and remote control technologies in space help humans explore the universe, predict weather changes and natural disasters, but their military use poses great risks to humans.

   In a word, any modern science and technology has both advantages and disadvavtages. Human beings must best use the advantages of modern science and technology to limit or put an end to the disadvantages. Only有 in this way can modern science and technology truly benefit human beings and all of us are safe. Otherwise, science and technology will bring disaster.

   总之 任何现代科学技术都具有优点和缺点两面性，人类必须尽可能地运用现代科学技术的优点，限制或杜绝现代科学技术的缺点，只有这样，现代科学技术才能真正地有利于人类，我们所有人才是安全的。否则，科学技术就会给全人类带来灾难。

   传统文化产生于当时那个生产力水平低下的时代，是与当时的社会生产力发展水平相适应的。但是，随着技术和观念的进步，与现代社会生产力发展水平相适应的新文化产生。传统文化与现代社会不相适应的矛盾越来越突出。现代的新文化取代传统文化就是必然的。

   如果要完全保持传统文化，社会就要付出停滞不前的代价。如果要社会发展进步，就要付出丢失传统文化的代价。两者必选其一，没有更多的选项。显然，人类不会接受为了保留传统文化而使社会停滞不前，一定会为了推进社会发展进步而淘汰一些于社会现代文明格格不入的传统文化。因此，在社会发展的过程中，我们必须承受部分传统文化逐渐消失的代价。我们不可能在促进社会进步的同时还试图完整地传承传统文化。

    任何一个民族或国家的现代文化的形成，都是在继承传统文化和吸收人类现代文化精华的基础上的，但是这种文化继承和吸收都是有选择性的。也就是继承传统文化的精华，扬弃传统文化的糟粕，并吸收人类现代优秀文化的最新成果。使现代文化既富有传统精神，又富有现代气息。

   有些人看不到传统文化被继承和淘汰的必然性，顽固地站在文化本位主义的角度，无论优劣，试图全面恢复和继承传统文化，并以次为借口来抗拒接受人类社会共同创造的先进文化成果，拒绝接受现代人类文明的洗礼。这是鼠目寸光、文化自大、见识浅薄、作茧自缚的表现。所谓文化自信就是要有传承和淘汰传统文化，创造和吸收新文化的勇气，而不是文化自大的文化保守主义。

   对那些即将被淘汰的传统文化，我们也可以用现代技术手段，如建立传统文化博物馆、历史文物博物馆、电子音像资料等方式保存下来。这些被淘汰或丢失的传统文化虽然不能够进入我们现代人的生活中，但是能够进入我们以及后代人的视野和记忆中，使我们能够看到传统文化的历史和演变过程，这样传统文化就可以另一种方式得到延续，或者会消失的缓慢一些。我们因社会进步而付出传统文化消失的代价就会相对小一些。

   总而言之，任何一个民族的文化只有在兼收并蓄、传承扬弃、开放包容、海纳百川、不断创新的基础上才有未来。
